Babar Azam was signed up for $425000 Australian by Sydney Sixers for the Big Bash League 2025-26 season.
Babar Azam is cutting his BBL stint short because of Pakistan Cricket Board's instructions as he has to attend the national camp before ICC T20 World Cup 2026 next month.
Babar Azam had a strike-rate of only 103 in BBL 2025-26 season. He scored 202 runs in 11 matches at an average of 22.44 with 2 fifties.
Babar Azam informed Sydney Sixers fans that he is leaving to attend to national duties. "I have very (much) enjoyed my time," he said. "Unfortunately, I will now have to leave the team, to go to the national duty."
Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has scored 4429 runs in his T20I career in 136 matches with 3 hundreds and 38 fifties.
Babar Azam has lowest strike-rate in BBL history with batters who had scored more than 200 runs.
