Manu Bhaker is a renowned Indian shooter who has earned 2 Olympic medals, 7 medals at the Asian Games and Asian Championships, and 21 medals at the World Championships and World Cups.
In a heartbreaking incident, Manu Bhaker, the Olympic bronze medalist, tragically lost her maternal grandmother and uncle in a road accident in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, on Sunday, according to PTI reports.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Suresh Kumar stated, "We received information about a collision between a car and a scooty. Both individuals on the scooty died on the spot. The car's driver was not present at the scene."
Currently, neither Manu Bhaker nor her family have made any public comments about the incident.
Manu Bhaker, the shooting prodigy, etched her name in history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by clinching two bronze medals. She made history as the first athlete from independent India to win two medals in a single Olympic Games. Bhaker's remarkable achievements came in the 10m air pistol individual and mixed team events.
Manu Bhaker was recently conferred with the esteemed Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award at the National Sports Awards ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She shared the honor with rising chess star D Gukesh, who also received the prestigious accolade.
