Rashid Khan was retained for Rs 18 crore by Shubman Gill's Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2026 season. Afghanistan all-rounder was captain of GT in their second IPL 2026 match vs Rajasthan Royals as Shubman Gill was injured.
Rashid Khan has revealed he will not be part of Afghanistan team for one-off Test vs India to prolong his international career. "The doctor told me like, 'if you don't want to play cricket, you keep playing the red-ball cricket' because it's not going to support you. You won't be (there) for longer to play for Afghanistan and I still went and I still played and when he knew I bowled 67 (55) overs in one innings, in two innings, he was shocked. He was 'no, you can't do that to yourself'. I will think about that," Rashid said in the post-match press conference on Wednesday.
India are set to face Afghanistan in one-off Test in June this year at New PCA Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh.
Afghanistan will face India in a Test match after nearly 8 years. India had beaten Afghanistan by innings and 262 runs in their last Test in Bengaluru in 2018.
Shubman Gill will be leading full-strength Test India vs Afghanistan. The Test will not be a part of the ongoing World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.
Team India have lost their last Test series against South Africa 2-0 at home last year.
