Pakistan cricket is in headline again, but this time for the wrong reasons. A criminal investigation has been launched against young batsman Haider Ali in the UK, and now another major controversy has emerged.

This time, the issue involves Pakistan’s well-known cricket agent Moghis Ahmed, who has represented prominent players such as Misbah-ul-Haq, Saeed Ajmal, and current fast bowler Naseem Shah.

The England Cricket Board (ECB) has banned him after finding him guilty in a corruption case.

According to a report by Telecom Asia Sport, Moghis, who is the owner of the International Cricketers Association, offered money to coaches to influence the selection of players in county cricket.

The ECB investigation found that Moghis offered a coach a share of his commission if he selected his players in the franchise league. The coach immediately reported the proposal to the ECB, following which Moghis was provisionally suspended in March.

Following an investigation and hearing, the tribunal imposed a five-year ban on him, with a minimum suspension of 30 months to take effect immediately, and the remaining period contingent on good behavior.

The ECB said in its statement, "Mr Ahmed has been found guilty of corruptly approaching the coach of a county team and offering him a share of his commission if the coach selected certain players he represented in a franchise league."
