Five-times IPL champions Mumbai Indians are all set to face Kolkata Knight Riders in their IPL 2026 opener at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 29.
Mumbai Indians training camp featured all the senior players, including former captain Rohit Sharma and current captain Hardik Pandya, among others, while Jasprit Bumrah's absence raised questions about his availability.
Jasprit Bumrah is currently working on his strength and conditioning at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru as part of his workload management.
The plan for Bumrah to train at the CoE was advised by the BCCI medical team, keeping in mind India’s tour of England in July, where they are scheduled to play a five-match T20I series and three ODIs.
Bumrah will continue his training at the CoE; however, he is expected to join the MI camp ahead of their IPL 2026 opener against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Jasprit Bumrah, who has spent his entire IPL career with MI, has picked up a total of 186 wickets in 148 matches and is just nine short of Lasith Malinga's record as the franchise's leading wicket-taker.
