Good news for Kolkata Knight Riders as Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana has been cleared to join the squad for IPL 2026 after receiving a No Objection Certificate from Cricket Sri Lanka.
As per reports, the 23-year-old fast bowler is expected to travel to Chennai shortly and join the KKR camp ahead of their upcoming fixture.
KKR have had a disappointing start to the season and will be hoping Pathirana's arrival adds strength to their bowling attack and helps turn things around quickly.
Matheesha Pathirana was initially denied an NOC by Sri Lanka Cricket as he was still recovering from an injury picked up during the early stages of the T20 World Cup.
Matheesha Pathirana had been in impressive form before suffering a calf injury, which eventually ruled him out of the tournament.
KKR acquired the star Sri Lankan pacer for Rs 18 crore. But his injury early on disrupted those plans.
Matheesha Pathirana has played a total of 32 IPL matches and picked 47 wickets, claiming 47 wickets during his time with Chennai Super Kings.
