Only two players have ever taken more than 150 wickets while captaining in Test cricket: Imran Khan of Pakistan and Pat Cummins of Australia. This achievement is considered extremely rare for fast bowlers.
In his very first over of the second innings, Cummins dismissed Ben Duckett, putting England on the back foot. Later, big names like Ollie Pope and Joe Root also fell victim to his bowling.
With the wicket of Ollie Pope, Pat Cummins completed 150 wickets as captain in Test cricket. He achieved this milestone in his 38th Test match, where he has taken 151 wickets in 69 innings.
The record for the most Test wickets as captain belongs to Imran Khan, who took 187 wickets in 48 Tests. Cummins now has the opportunity to challenge this record and reach the 200-wicket mark.
Under Pat Cummins' captaincy, Australia won the World Test Championship. They also reclaimed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by defeating India for the first time since 2014–15 and drew the Ashes series in England.
Along with Test cricket, Cummins also holds a high stature in the IPL. In the 2024 auction, SRH bought him for ₹20.50 crore, and under his captaincy, the team reached the final. He has been retained as captain for the 2025 season as well.
