Vinesh Phogat married fellow wrestler Somveer Rathi in the year 2018. The two first met while working in the Railways. The shared passion and love for wrestling brought them close to each other, and the friendship gradually turned into a relationship.

Vinesh Phogat retired from wrestling after losing in the Paris Olympics in August last year. She was disqualified before the final due to being overweight and she was out of the race for the gold medal.
