Pakistan's wicketkeeper batsman Umar Akmal is married to Noor Amna. Noor is the daughter of Pakistan's great spinner Abdul Qadir and sister of Usman Qadir. Usman represented Pakistan in limited overs format, now he plays for Hawkesbury Cricket Club in Sydney, Australia. At the same time, Umar Akmal played 221 matches in all formats for Pakistan. Later he became a commentator.
Vikram Rathour and Aashish Kapoor are also relatives. Both have played for Punjab. Rathore led Punjab to its only Ranji Trophy title in 1992-93. His brother-in-law Aashish Kapoor was part of India's 1996 World Cup team. Aashish has served as a selector for India A and Under-19 teams, while Vikram Rathour is a former batting coach of India and is currently associated with Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
England's legendary players Alec Stewart and Mark Butcher are also relatives. Both led the Surrey and England team together. Butcher married Alec's sister Judy Stewart. Stewart was a regular member of the team, but Butcher's career had many ups and downs inside and outside the field. His marriage to Judy brought the two even closer, but the situation changed after the marriage broke down.
England legend Craig White and Australia coach Darren Lehmann's cricketing friendship soon turned into a family bond. The two cricketers, who shared a dressing room together in Yorkshire, became close when Lehmann married White's sister Andrea. The couple got married in 1999.
BCCI selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar and Mazhar Ghadially are also relatives. Agarkar married Fatima Ghadially, sister of his friend and former cricketer Mazhar Ghadially, in 2002. Both Mazhar and Ajit have played cricket together for Mumbai. Fatima and Ajit also have a son, whose name is Raj Agarkar.
Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis' sister Rhemi Rynners married fast bowler Hardus Viljoen in 2019. This information was given by Duplessis himself. During the 2019 Mzansi Super League match, when the then captain of Paarl Rocks, Duplessis was asked about Viljoen's absence in the playing XI, Faf replied, 'Viljoen is not playing today because he is with my sister, as she got married yesterday.' Viljoen played one Test for South Africa in 2016. He has participated in various T20 leagues around the world.
Former great batsmen Sunil Gavaskar and Gundappa Viswanath are also relatives. Viswanath married Gavaskar's sister Kavita in 1978. They also have a son named Daivik Vishwanath.
