BCCI's senior selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar announced a 15-member squad for the two-match Test series against the West Indies which is scheduled to begin on October 2.
Dhruv Jurel will be the first-choice wicketkeeper in Pant's absence, while Tamil Nadu’s Narayan Jagadeeshan serves as the backup.
Sai Sudharsan and Devdutt Padikkal retained their places from the England tour squad.
Karun Nair has been left out, while Mumbai's Sarfaraz Khan couldn't find a place in the 150-memeber squad.
India will kick off the two-match Test series against the West Indies which is a part of the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 2, whereas the second Test will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi starting October 10.
India kicked off the new WTC 2025-27 cycle on a positive note with a 2-2 draw against England in the Tendulkar-Anderson trophy.
The squad looks similar to the one from England series. Jasprit Bumrah has also made himself available for the Test series, although the Asia Cup 2025 final will take place just a few days before the opening day of the first Test.
In addition to Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy returns to the Test team after missing the last two Tests of the England series due to injury.
Following his stellar performance in the Asia Cup 2025, where he emerged as the top wicket-taker, Kuldeep Yadav has also retained his spot in the squad and is anticipated to be included in the playing XI for the first Test.
