Salil Ankola made his Test debut with Sachin Tendulkar vs Pakistan in 1989. It was Ankola's one and only Test.
Salil Ankola represented India in 20 ODI matches and claimed 13 wickets. He picked up 181 wickets in 54 first-class matches in his career.
Salil Ankola also served as the BCCI national selector. He picked the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 which India won. He was named the chief selector of the Mumbai Cricket Association in 2020 and was then part of the selection panel from January 2023 to August 2024.
Salil Ankola made his foray into acting through TV series, 'Kora Kagaz' and 'Chahat aur Nafrat'.
Salil Ankola also acted alongside Sanjay Dutt in Bollywood movie Kurukshetra and Pitaah apart from also acting in 'Chura Liya hai Tumne'.
Alcohol derailed Salil Ankola's career in 2008 which also led to his divorce in 2011. He bounced back with roles in Savdhaan India and the Tamil film 'Pambattam'.
