On the fifth day of the fifth Test match being played at The Oval, Mohammed Siraj sent two England batsmen to the pavilion in his first two overs. He first got Jamie Smith (2) caught by Dhruv Jurel and then got Jamie Overton (9) out LBW. Later he went on to dismiss Gus Atkinson to script India's one of the best Test matches played in England.
Mohammed Siraj has now reached the top of the list of Asian bowlers who have taken the most four-wicket hauls in Test cricket in England. He has taken four wickets 7 times in 11 matches. He is followed by Muttiah Muralitharan (6 times) and Waqar Younis (6 times).
Siraj performed brilliantly in the first innings of the fifth Test as well, taking four wickets for 86 runs in 16.2 overs.
Siraj opened his wicket account by bowling Zak Crawley (14) in the second innings on Saturday (August 2). On Sunday (August 3), he also sent England's acting captain Ollie Pope (27) to the pavilion.
Siraj is also at number one among Indian bowlers who have taken the most four-fers in England in Test cricket. He has done this feat 7 times in 11 matches. He is followed by Jasprit Bumrah (5 times) and Ishant Sharma (4 times).
With four wickets in the second innings of the Oval Test, Siraj's total wickets in this series have gone up to 22. He has achieved this feat in nine innings of five matches and has become the highest wicket-taker in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy so far. Josh Tongue is in second place, who has dismissed 19 Indian batsmen in three matches.
