Famous for his composure under pressure and amazing strategic understanding, MS Dhoni is remembered as one of the best finishers, captains and wicketkeepers in cricket history. Now this legacy has been honored by the International Cricket Council (ICC) by including him in the ICC Hall of Fame. Dhoni played 538 matches for India, scored 17,266 runs and made 829 wicketkeeping dismissals.

On being inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, MS Dhoni said, "It is a matter of pride for me to be included in the ICC Hall of Fame. This honor recognizes the contribution of many legendary players from around the world. Being named among such great players is a wonderful experience that I will always cherish."

When Dhoni came to Team India in 2004, no one knew that this young player would completely change the role of wicketkeeper-batsman. His glovework technique was not traditional, but was extremely effective. In batting, he reinvented the traditional role of wicketkeeper-batsman with his powerful strokes and aggressive style.

His ODI career may have started with a runout and zero, but in a few months he proved himself by playing explosive innings of 148 against Pakistan and then 183* against Sri Lanka. Even today, this score is the highest individual score by a wicketkeeper in ODIs.

When India played the first T20 World Cup in 2007, Dhoni was given the captaincy of the young team. Despite the lack of experience, under Dhoni's leadership, India defeated Pakistan and won the title and a new revolution began in T20 cricket. This success made Dhoni the permanent captain of Indian cricket.

Under Dhoni's captaincy, India became the number 1 team in the Test rankings for the first time in December 2009. As a batsman, he proved himself in Tests as well – be it 148 against Pakistan or the historic innings of 224 against Australia in Chennai. He handled the team even in difficult situations and saved many important matches.

Dhoni touched new heights in ODI cricket not only as a captain but also as an excellent finisher and wicketkeeper. In the 2011 World Cup final, he promoted himself and played a match-winning innings and with a six, India won the World Cup after 28 years. The 2013 Champions Trophy was also his name, making him the first captain to win all three ICC trophies.

Dhoni's international career almost ended with a runout against New Zealand in the semi-finals of the 2019 World Cup. Although the official retirement came a year later, the silence of that runout seemed to have ended an era. Despite this, Dhoni's memories and contributions will always live on in Indian cricket.
