Sunil Gavaskar captained India to victory in the inaugural Asia Cup in 1984, which was held in Sharjah. The tournament followed a round-robin format, and under Gavaskar’s captaincy, India defeated both Sri Lanka and Pakistan to lift the very first Asia Cup title.
Dilip Vengsarkar come second on the list as he led India in Asia Cup 1988 in Bangladesh. India secured 6-wickets victory over Sri Lanka and clinched their second Asia Cup title
Mohammad Azharuddin comes third on the list. He became the first captain to win the Asia Cup twice in 1990-91 and 1995 which was held in UAE.
Sourav Ganguly led Team India in Asia Cup 2000 in Bangladesh, but Pakistan won, while in 2004 India lost in the final against Sri Lanka
MS Dhoni led the Asia Cup most number of times. He led the team in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2016. India ended a 15-year wait by winning the 2010 Asia Cup, defeating Sri Lanka, while He later led India to another Asia Cup triumph in 2016, the first edition held in the T20I format.
Rohit Sharma captained Team India in the 2018, 2022 and 2023 Asia Cup. With skipper Virat Kohli unavailable in 2018, Rohit led India to a thrilling three-wicket win over Bangladesh in the final, while he guid India to a commanding 10-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the final.
