The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 will take action on March 28. The first game of the tournament will be played between Rajat Patidar's Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Ishan Kishan's Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Ahead of the IPL 2026, let's discuss the top five batters who scored the highest individual scores, but still lost the match by chasing the target.
The first player on the list is a star Indian player and one of the finest batters of all time, Sanju Samson played an incredible innings, even though his team lost the match. He smashed a blistering innings of 119 runs against Punjab Kings on 12 April 2021. While chasing a big mammoth of 222 runs, Samson fought hard and almost won the game on his own. He hit beautiful shots and stayed calm till the end. Even though his team couldn’t win, it was a amazing knock that fans still remember.
The second cricketer on the list is legendary Indian player, Rohit Sharma, who played a brilliant innings, even though his team couldn’t win. Speaking about his knock, he scored 105 runs for Mumbai Indians against their arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings on 14 April 2024. However, Rohit batted with full confidence. He played great shots and helped his team to fight in the game till the end.
The third cricketer on the list is one of the most experienced Indian players, who is known for his hard-hitting knock. Yes, you guessed it right, Yusuf Pathan smashed a 100-run innings for Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians on 13 March 2010, but his brilliant innings couldn't help them to win the match.
The next player on the list is a star Indian player, KL Rahul, who scored 95 runs innings for Punjab Kings (PBKS) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 8, 2018. But still, Punjab Kings lost the match while chasing after a brilliant knock by Rahul.
The last player on the list is Australian legend Shaun Marsh, who played 95 runs big innings for Punjab Kings against Delhi Daredevils (Now Delhi Capitals) on 23 April 2011. But Punjab Kings still lost the match.
