India A squad for the two multi-day series against Australia A has been announced.
The reason of Sarfaraz exclusion is unfortunate as he is recovering from his quadriceps injury he sustained during the Buchi Babu tournament while scoring a century against Haryana.
Khan is likely to get unsold for his poor performance in the IPL last season and also the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy this year.
The Mumbai batter was brilliant in his debut series against England. With selectors looking beyond Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara, Sarfaraz will look to lock in the middle-order spot for himself.
Sarfaraz was also left out of the India squad during the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy.
Sarfaraz Khan has scored 371 runs in 6 Test matches at an average of 37.1.
Shreyas Iyer who was left out of the Asia Cup squad has been appointed as the captain of the India A squad.
The two match multi-day series is scheduled to commence on September 16, with the second match to be played on September 23.
