New Zealand opener Devon Conway made history in Mount Maunganui by becoming the first batter from his country to score both a double century and a century in the same Test match.
Conway achieved this remarkable feat in the third and final Test against the West Indies. On the fourth day at Bay Oval, just before tea, he brought up his second-innings hundred with a simple cut shot.
In the first innings, Conway produced a magnificent double century, scoring 227 runs and laying the foundation for a huge total. His knock put New Zealand firmly in control of the match.
Conway followed up his double hundred with an unbeaten century in the second innings, underlining his consistency and superb form across both innings of the Test.
With this achievement, Conway became only the 10th player in Test history to score a double century and a century in the same match. He joined an elite group featuring legends such as Brian Lara, Graham Gooch, Kumar Sangakkara, Marnus Labuschagne, and Shubman Gill.
This was the seventh Test century of Conway’s career. By tea on day four, New Zealand were 192 without loss, extending their overall lead to 347 runs.
After going unsold in the IPL 2026 mini-auction, Conway responded emphatically on the international stage with his 227-run innings, sending a strong message through his historic Test performance.
