Gus Atkinson, currently ranked 12th among Test bowlers, is England’s highest-ranked player in the format. Since making his debut against the West Indies at Lord’s in July last year, he has grabbed 55 wickets in 12 matches. He was out of the first three Tests of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy due to a hamstring injury. Atkinson last played for England in May 2025 against Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge, where he picked two wickets in the first innings and one in the second.
