Nair's viral request for a second chance in international cricket, was granted during Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. However, those in key decision-making positions feel that he did not fully capitalize on the opportunity.
Nair featured in four Tests matches
Nair featured in four Tests, and scored just 205 runs at an average of 25, which included only half-century in eight innings. His highest score was a just 57, secured in the first innings of the Oval Test.

Devdutt Padikkal might replace Nair
Devdutt Padikkal, who scored an impressive 150 against the Australia A side in Lucknow recently, might replace Nair. Padikkal was previously included in the last Border-Gavaskar Trophy squad.
Rishabh Pant has not recovered yet
Aside from Nair's replacement, Rishabh Pant, who sustained a fractured in his right toe during the Old Trafford Test, has not recovered yet. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
