The Indian men's cricket team has concluded its 2025 campaign with a T20 series against South Africa. Team India's next international challenge will be against New Zealand in 2026.
In 2025, India played a total of 46 matches across Tests, ODIs, and T20 Internationals. They won 32 and lost 10, resulting in a win percentage of approximately 70%.
This year, the Indian team saw multiple captains leading in different formats. Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant all took on the responsibility and guided the team.
The Test format proved to be India's weakest link. The team managed only four wins in 10 Tests, suffering five defeats, raising concerns about their performance in the longest format of the game.
India's performance in ODI cricket was outstanding. After a 3-0 series win against England, the team went on to win five consecutive matches, securing the ICC Champions Trophy after 12 years.
India continued its impressive record in T20 Internationals. With 16 wins in 22 matches, the team won the Asia Cup and clinched series victories against several top teams.
While India demonstrated its strength in ODIs and T20s, the need for improvement in Test cricket is evident. The team will focus on strengthening this aspect before the series against New Zealand in 2026.
