Chennai Super Kings (CSK) signed Ayush Mhatre in place of injured Ruturaj Gaikwad for IPL 2025. Five-time IPL champion CSK had a poor IPL 2025 campaign as they were at the bottom in the points table. But 17-year-old Mhatre surprised everyone including MS Dhoni with his big-hitting show. He scored 240 runs from 7 games with a batting average of 34.28 and strike rate of 188.97 in IPL 2025 season. After his phenomenal IPL debut season, Mhatre is set to be retained by CSK before the 2026 auction and become Gaikwad's opening partner in the following year.

Lucknow Super Giants signed Shardul Thakur as an injury replacement for Mohsin Khan, who was ruled out of the 18th edition of the IPL because of injury. Shardul, a proven performer for India in all three formats, was signed from the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP) for his reserve price of Rs 2 crore. Shardul was an impressive bowler for LSG in the ongoing IPL 2025 season as he picked 13 wickets in 10 matches. With his versatility and cheap price, Thakur is likely to be retained by LSG before the IPL 2026 auction.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) recruited young South African batter Dewald Brevis as an injured replacement of Gurjapneet Singh in the middle of IPL 2025. Brevis played numerous match-winning and game-changing innings playing in the middle order for CSK during CSK's disappointing IPL season. 22-year-old Brevis, who scored 225 runs in 6 IPL 2025 matches at a strike rate of 180.00 and average of 37.50, will be retained by CSK ahead of the IPL 2026 auction.

Mumbai Indians engaged the services of Corbin Bosch as a replacement for injured Lizaad Williams during the course of IPL 2025. Bosch may have played only three matches for IPL 2025, but he was an asset for the Mumbai Indians team with the bat and ball alike. The South African all-rounder brought quality depth to the Mumbai Indians team and led them into the playoffs. Bosch, at 30 years of age, owes his most probable retention by Mumbai Indians before the IPL 2026 auction to his versatility.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) retained Urvil Patel in the place of Vansh Bedi, who was omitted from IPL 2025 due to a ligament injury in the left ankle. While Urvil appeared in only three matches for CSK in IPL 2025, he impressed with his aggressive batting. Urvil, who made 68 runs in 3 matches with the average of 22.66 and strike rate of 212.50, will be retained by CSK ahead of the 2026 auction.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) acquired Harsh Dubey as a replacement for Smaran Ravichandran due to injury in the middle of the IPL 2025 season. The Vidarbha Domestic Cricket all-rounder impressed with his short stint with SRH in the IPL 2025 season. Harsh, who took 5 wickets in 3 IPL 2025 matches with an economy of 9.80, will likely be retained by SRH before the 2026 auction.

Punjab Kings picked all-rounder Mitch Owen instead of Glenn Maxwell, who was unavailable for IPL 2025 due to a broken finger. Owen has featured in just one match for PBKS in IPL 2025 and was bowled out for a duck. But Owen has done well for other teams in other world leagues especially BBL. Looking at his batting and match-winning abilities, PBKS will probably retain Owen for the 2026 auction.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) retained Mayank Agarwal in lieu of injured Devdutt Padikkal during the middle of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Mayank featured in only 4 games during the IPL 2025 season and made only 95 runs but had limited knocks for the RCB, who went on to win the championship later. With his experience and adaptability, the 2025 champions RCB might retain Mayank prior to IPL 2026 auction.
