Sam Curran's elder brother Tom Curran has had a limited impact in the league, as he picked only 13 wickets in as many matches. While he has an impressive T20 record of 255 wickets at an economy of 8.86, his new-ball abilities are unlikely to be fully effective in Indian conditions. Additionally, his batting contributions are minimal, which makes it difficult for the franchises to pick him
Left-arm spinner, Dawson returned to international cricket for England earlier this year and has performed well. However, with India already brimming with similar spinners, most franchises would hesitate to spend over Rs 2 crore and use a valuable overseas slot on a player with limited experience in subcontinent conditions.
Lawrence, has some experience playing in India. His T20 record with both the bat and his right-arm off-spin is respectable, and he has a talent for delivering crucial innings. However, in the IPL, he would likely serve only as an expensive backup, as he doesn't offer anything unique that most teams don't already possess.
Left-arm pacer Mills had a solid stint with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He could lead a pace attack with his variations and clever bowling. But most of the IPL franchises would probably rather invest Rs 2 crore in a young left-arm fast bowler they can develop over the coming years, rather than a 33-year-old who is unlikely to feature regularly in the playing XI.
South Africa's explosive batter enjoyed a stellar 2024 season with Punjab Kings. However, over the past two years, he has struggled for form and lost his spot in the national team. His high base price makes him a risky pick for most franchises.
West Indies Akeal Hosein is a quality new-ball spinner, who is known for his impressive control during the powerplay and the ability to also contribute with the bat. While his skills could benefit certain teams in the league, but it's unlikely that franchises would be willing to spend over Rs 2 crore on him.
South Africa's left-arm wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi could have been a key player in the IPL with his experience. However, most franchises would recognize that Shamsi, at 35, is well past his peak making him a less ideal choice for a league that is becoming increasingly competitive
