Virat Kohli scripted history during the second ODI against New Zealand at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.
Kohli became India's leading run-scorer against New Zealand in ODIs, surpassing Tendulkar's 1,750 runs in 41 innings in just 35 innings.
Virat Kohli moved to second place on the list of most ODI runs against New Zealand, behind Ricky Ponting, who has scored a total of 1,971 runs in 50 innings.
Virat has been in red-hot form, having scored two centuries against South Africa in the preceding series. Although he was dismissed for 23 in the second ODI, Kohli still has a chance to break another major record in the final ODI.
Kohli and Ponting are currently tied with six centuries against New Zealand, and another ton would make Kohli the leading century-maker against the Black Caps in ODIs.
Kohli also reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the ICC ODI rankings after 1,736 days. Thanks to consistent performances since his comeback, Kohli replaced Rohit Sharma, who slipped to third after back-to-back failures in the series.
