Taking a hat-trick in T20 International cricket is as big an achievement for a bowler as scoring a century is for a batsman. Only a few bowlers have managed to take a hat-trick in T20s. But if a bowler takes 7 wickets in a match, it's like scoring a double century in this format, a feat that has never happened before.

In 2023, a bowler set an incredible record by taking 7 wickets in a single T20 International innings, a feat that seems almost impossible to break. This record was made during a T20 World Cup Asia B Qualifier match between China and Malaysia. In that game, China was bowled out for just 23 runs. The Chinese batsmen seemed helpless in front of the Malaysian bowler.

The record belongs to Malaysian all-rounder Syazrul Idrus, who completely dominated China's batting. Malaysia's captain gave him the ball in the fourth over, and in his very first over, he sent four batsmen back to the pavilion. He returned to bowl in the sixth over and took another wicket. Even in his final over, Syazrul continued his wicket-taking spree, claiming two more wickets.

Earlier, the record for the most wickets in a single T20 International innings was shared by several bowlers, but none of them had taken more than 6 wickets. Idrus is the only bowler in history to take 7 wickets in a 4-over spell. In India, three bowlers, Deepak Chahar, Yuzvendra Chahal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have each taken 6 wickets in a T20I innings.
