Rajasthan Lok Sabha Election 2024: Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies, consisting of eight assembly segments in Rajasthan. Historically, the Jodhpur constituency could be termed as a Congress stronghold but akin to other seats in the state, the BJP has steamrolled the grand-old-party’s bastions since its juggernaut started rolling in 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
BJP stalwart and sitting MP Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has won two successive victories from Jodhpur since the 2014 polls when he dethroned Congress’s Chandresh Kumari by a thumping margin of over 4 lakhs votes while boasting a 53 percent vote share.
Shekhawat retained the Jodhpur seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls with another impressive win as he defeated Congress nominee Vaibhav Gehlot by a margin of 2,74,440 votes. The BJP MP received 7,88,888 votes while Gehlot secured 5,14,448 votes in a closely fought poll battle.
Elections for the Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency will be held on April 26, 2024– Phase 2 of Lok Sabha polls– while votes will be counted on June 4 and results declared on the same day.

Following its rout in the south in early 2023, the BJP received a major shot in the arm late last year when it registered thumping victories the Assembly elections in the three Hindi heartland states, including Rajasthan.
High on confidence, the ruling BJP will be eyeing to maintain its iron grip over the Jodhpur seat while the Congress, backed by its INDIA bloc allies, will be looking to wrest the seat from the saffron brigade in a bid to get one step closer to dethroning the Modi regime at the Centre.
Sitting BJP MP Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will be looking to complete a hatrick of electoral wins from the Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency while his prime opponent, Congress’ Karan Singh Uchiyarda is eyeing to secure the seat for the opposition party.
Historically, the Congress has won the Jodhpur seat 9 times, while the BJP has 5 wins under its belt since the 1952 Lok Sabha Elections.
Elections for the 25 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan will be held in first two phases, April 19 (phase 1) and April 26 (phase 2) of the general elections. Votes will be counted on June 4 and results declared on the same day, the Election Commission has announced.
