The teaser of 2.0 released on September 13 on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. The one minute 31 seconds teaser received mixed reviews from the audience. However, despite the flak it got for giving less screen space to Akshay Kumar, the teaser went on to garner over 32 million views on the internet within 24 hours of its release. The video, as expected, went viral and Rajinikanth’s human-robot avatar was especially liked by the Thalaiva’s fans.

Lyca Productions, the producer of 2.0, took to Twitter to announce the news and mentioned the total views the teaser garnered from Facebook, YouTube and other video sharing platforms. They posted:

2.0, the sequel to Shankar’s highly successful 2010 film, Enthiran, known as Robot in Hindi, is one of the most anticipated films of the year. The big sci-fi drama has also been deemed as the most expensive Indian film ever by the makers with the budget of over Rs 543 crore. The audience has started questioning the usage of VFX in the film as the teaser didn’t fall at par with the expectations in terms of the special effects used. However, it is still too-soon-to-say anything with great surety since the trailer of the film is yet to be out.

The delay in the release date of 2.0 also added to the excitement around the film. The film, which features Amy Jackson as the female lead, was postponed thrice. It was expected to hit the screens during Diwali last year. The release date then got shifted to January 25, 2018, followed by April 27. After facing a lot of fuss due to delay in VFX, the makers finally announced that 2.0 is releasing on November 29.
