Alia Bhatt, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Udta Punjab wento through a tumultuous process before it hit the screen! After the heavy war with CBFC over cuts, it finally successfully hit the screens last year only to gain huge positive response from then fans as well as critics. But after a year what came in front of them was th challenge of teleacasting the film on Television with minimum cuts. Naturally, there created an issue regarding this. However, the film-makers had the last laugh as the film will be shown on television with only a three minute edit!

On the occasion of TV premiere on April 30 on &Pictures, Udta Punjab director Abhishek Chaubey recently told in an interview about how he feels ‘vindicated’ after this newest development! While talking to Midday, she said, “Yes, I feel vindicated. I accept the cuts requested for telecast, as opposed to what happened before the theatrical release. In theatres, there is a provision for only adults to walk in, and when that happens, we [filmmakers] should have the ability to express ourselves in the best interest of the film. But TV is a different medium, accessible to everyone. (ALSO READ: When Shahid Kapoor called his then girlfriend Kareena Kapoor his ‘SENIOR’)

He also further added few more bits on this saying, ” I understand that the content of my film can’t be shown to a child in entirety. So the cuts were acceptable. They even wanted me to be part of the process, and in fact, I made a few suggestions.” Well, it’s nice that they have finally crossed all the hurdles that could come across their way for the film!
