The battle between Kangana Ranaut and filmmaker Ketan Mehta is taking a new turn with every passing day. Recently, Ketan sent a legal notice to Kangana for hijacking his ambitious project based on the life of Queen of Jhansi – Rani Laxmibai. And now the things have gone from bad to worse as according to a report in Mumbai Mirror, he has now filed a complaint at the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) claiming that Kangana breached his trust. For those of you who don’t know, Kangana is going to shoot for a movie titled Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi. Ketan Mehta had announced a project much similar to this one back in June 2015, and Kangana was a part of the project. Over the course of one and a half years, Ketan had shared multiple drafts of the script and all the research material on the subject collected over years with her. But then after two years of discussions, Ketan and Kangana parted their ways on the project, after which the actress started making her own film on the subject, with a new director, Krish.

Now because of Kangana leaving the project abruptly, Ketan’s company has suffered a loss of nearly Rs 9 crore, the director claims. “We shared various versions of the script and sketch materials with Kangana Ranaut. We were shocked when we came to know that she was making the film within someone else and that’s why we also sent her a legal notice. We have been working on this project for 10 years now and it’s a labour of love. They have hijacked our project and that is not acceptable,” Mehta was quoted by the tabloid. However, Kangana’s lawyer, Rizwan Siddiquee has denied all these allegations saying, “My client knows she has not committed any moral or legal wrong, therefore such ridiculous and baseless claims or complaints will not deter her in any manner. The facts of the matter and the evidence will reveal the truth.”

But now that the matter has gone to the police, an FIR will be filed and the matter will be probed further, revealed a senior EOW official. Kangana will also be summoned to record her statement soon.
