Ajay Devgn, the man who’s been at the forefront of the Golmaal franchise seems all set to reunite with old friend, director and producer, Indra Kumar. The actor-director duo go a long back when they worked together in the 1997 comedy Ishq, which also featured Kajol, Juhi Chawla and Aamir Khan.
“Ajay, my partner Ashok Thakeria, and I have had a fabulous association. Ishq is still one of the most successful comedy films in Bollywood and here we are, 20 years later, with another family entertainer. The Dhamaal franchise has a strong fan following. Ajay’s association makes it even more special.” Indra Kumar told Mirror.
Indra Kumar is the man behind the adult comedy franchise Masti (the first part of which saw Devgn make a guest appearance), Ishq and Dhamaal. Sanjay Dutt was at the lead in the last two Dhamaal installments, alongside Riteish Deshmukh, Javed Jaffrey, Arshad Warsi and Ashish Chowdhury. However, as per reports Sanjay Dutt has refused to further star in the series because of the adult comedy element. ALSO READ: 5 Bollywood actors whose life story deserves to be made into a biopic
“Like the Golmaal franchise, Dhamaal has its loyal audience. Ajay is glad to reunite with Indra for Total Dhamaal. He is hoping the team will come up with a madcap comedy that will have people rolling on the floor laughing. The idea is to make a full-on entertainer,” a source close to the actor told Mirror. Now we are really excited to see Ajay join Arshad, Javed and Riteish and churn up some Dhamaal at the box office.
Devgn has been on vacation in Maldives with his family and friends. He has been shooting for Baadshaho and Golmaal 4 all this while and has taken the much-needed break before she starts shooting for his next projects.
