Anaarkali of Aarah which was continuously under the radar of CBFC due to its content, has managed to garner the love of the audience at the cinema halls! Swara Bhaskar was last seen as a mother in Nil Battey Sannata and did a wonderful job there. But now with Aanaarkali of Aarah, she completely immersed in to a different role and nailed it successfully! In this flick, she plays a singer who sings erotic songs to make her living. Thing take an ugly turn when she is harassed by a powerful person from the village. It is then, when she decides to fight for her dignity. The story starts then! With another major movie to compete, the film has surprisingly garnered praises from the critics, especially for Swara Bhaskar! Here’s what the critics have to say about the film!

The Quint: Swara single-handedly gives us moments that make the movie Anarkali of Arre waah! Also seasoned actors of the caliber of Sanjay Mishra and Pankaj Tripathi are remarkably effective in their roles. The performances, in fact, help keep the narrative together with the songs bringing alive the rustic charm of unvarnished small town India. Debutant director Avinash Das is a brave new voice with a refreshing take on women and their sexuality. But the screenplay fails to offer him the needed support.

Hindustan Times: “Anaarkali Of Aarah takes a cue from last year’s Pink and takes the discussion forward. Anaarkali of Aarah brings forth a world that’s out of focus and needs our attention. Marginalised sections are fighting their own battles in this part of the globe and Anaarkali Of Aarah wants us to be sympathetic to them. Being privy to their emotions doesn’t seem a bad ideaa.

Indian Express: With Anar, Swara Bhaskar gets a role worthy of her. The film uses lines and situations involving crudity but never turns vulgar. Nowhere does Anaarkali of Aarah makes you cringe, and that’s a real achievement.

Koimoi.com: Anaarkali Of Aarah is a stunningly bold and thank heavens has managed to release in India with CBFC’s kindness. Watch it for Swara Bhasker’s killer act. A 3.5/5 for this need of the hour film. (ALSO READ: Bold scene from Swara Bhaskar’s Anaarkali of Aarah that had CBFC fuming gets leaked online)
