Having enthralled the audience with the story of the marriage between Sugandha (Bhumi Pednekar) and Mudit (Ayushmann Khurrana) who is suffering from temporary erectile dysfunction, 2017 release Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is all set to come out with a sequel. Dropping the news on his Instagram handle, lead actor Ayushmann shared the teaser of the sequel titled Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan.
Calling it as an “out and out entertaining film”, Ayushmann revealed that the movie will release on Valentine’s Day next year. While the original film was a remake of the Tamil movie Kalyana Samayal Saadham, the sequel will revolve around the subject of homosexuality with Ayushmann playing a gay character. Unlike the first installment which was directed by Aanand L. Rai, the second will be directed by Hitesh Kewalya.

Talking about the film, Ayushmann told IANS, “It is a beautiful story told in the quintessential Aanand L. Rai style of filmmaking that will touch your hearts and leave a smile on your face. It is one of the most brilliant films that I have read in a long time and it handles the subject of homosexuality really sensitively. It is a pleasure to collaborate again with the master storyteller of our times. It is an out and out entertaining film that will also make you think and that’s the hallmark of good cinema.”
The success of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan apparently gave birth to the sequel and producer Rai of Colour Yellow Productions further shared, “With ‘…Zyada Saavdhan’, we have a great story in hand and who better, but Ayushmann to play the lead since he brings a whole new level of expression to the table. Hope audiences enjoy it as much as the first film.”
Apart from this, Ayushmann also has Baala opposite Bhumi Pednekar and Article 15 directed by Anubhav Sinha in his kitty.
