From quite a long time we have not seen the sexy and bold actress Chitrangada Singh on the silver screens. We saw her last as the female lead in ‘I, Me Aur Main’ that released in the year 2013. In 2015 she just had a special appearance in song Aao Raja from the film ‘Gabbar is Back’. And now when we hear that the diva is going to do a full-fledged role in ‘Baazaar’, we just cannot contain our excitement.
Earlier it was speculated that actress Prachi Desai (Chitrangada’s co-star from ‘I, Me Aur Main’) was approached for this upcoming flick. But it is Chitrangada who is paired opposite Saif Ali Khan in ‘Baazaar’. She would be playing the role of his wife, Mandira. In an interview with a leading tabloid filmmaker Nikkhil Advani has cleared the air that Chitrangada was always the first choice.
Speaking about the cast of ‘Baazaar’ Nikkhil Advani told Mumbai Mirror, “I’m happy that the cast is looking so exciting. We have Saif, Chitrangda, Radhika Apte and Rohan Mehra (making his acting debut).” About the film’s shooting and release the filmmaker further revealed, “The shoot has just begun and will be wrapped up by mid-August while the film is slated for a December release.” (ALSO READ: Baazaar first look: Saif Ali Khan in this serious business tycoon avatar will leave you impressed and intrigued)
On how Chitrangada Singh was brought on board and the speculations behind Prachi Desai was the first choice for ‘Baazaar’ Nikkhil said, “Prachi has expressed interest in working with my production house but that is for another project. As far as the role of Mandira in Baazaar is concerned, Gauravv K Chawla, my director, came up with the idea of casting Chitrangda.” (ALSO READ: Yesteryear star Vinod Mehra’s son Rohan Mehra to make his big Bollywood debut with Saif Ali Khan’s Baazaar)
When all are saying that ‘Baazaar’ is a comeback film for Chitrangada Singh, Nikkhil Advani has a different opinion. He says, “I won’t call it a comeback but just the fact that she hasn’t done anything for quite some time was instrumental in us considering her because it’s a powerful character that’s silent and simmering, like a volcano about to erupt. Casting her opposite Saif makes the film about strong actors and characters.”
In ‘Baazaar’, Saif Ali Khan would be seen playing the role of a business man. We saw Saif’s salt and pepper avatar when the makers released the poster earlier this month. Keep watching this space for more updates.
