It’s a moment of great pride for India as Toilet : Ek Prem Katha (TEPK) and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (SMS) star Bhumi Pednekar along with filmmaker-producer Karan Johar have been invited to attend the upcoming Berlin International Film Festival. In a statement given out to the media, Bhumi said, ” I am most honoured and humbled to be invited by the Berlinale. The fact that I will represent India and its evolving cinema is itself a huge moment of pride for me.” At the festival, Bhumi will not only be representing India, but will also be highlighting the evolution of mainstream Hindi cinema over the years. The festival is said to reportedly take place between February 15 and February 25.

Bhumi is one among the most promising talents in Hindi cinema today. She has had quite a phenomenal journey so far. The actress has always chosen high content cinema over everything else right from the time of her debut film Dum Laga Ke Haisha, along with actor Ayushmann Khurrana. In 2017, she has churned out two back-to-back hits, TEPK and SMS, both of which were socially relevant films with a strong message. Recently, the actress was also featured in Forbes India’s 30 Under 30 list. On the other hand, Karan Johar, is a force to reckon with in the Hindi film industry. So far, he hasn’t given an official statement with regards to the festival.

Meanwhile on the professional front, Bhumi will next be seen in Son Chiriya opposite Sushant Singh Rajput. While Sushant looked absolutely unrecognisable in his dacoit avatar, we are still waiting to see Bhumi’s look from the film. Karan, on the other hand, is producing Dhadak starring Ishan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor. He is also judging a TV reality show, India’s Next Superstars along with filmmaker Rohit Shetty.
