As the year is about to end, we reflect at what 2015 has been like in showbiz. Talking about the television industry in India, TV shows generated mixed feelings among audiences, from happiness to ecstasy to worry. All serials might not have been as impressive as others but they have surely changed the mindset of the audiences. We can say that in 2015, TV was more dominated by comedy shows from the previous year, like Comedy Nights with Kapil, and the ever popular Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma. Some mythological stories were also quite liked by viewers. Indian TV shows are changing and makers have tried to bring in variety. Audiences can find and get all kinds of shows on different channels. The year 2015 has given lots of new shows, including Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi, and the recent Naagin, Siya Ke Ram, Bhaage Re Mann, and a lot more. TV producers also tried bringing in fresh pairs onscreen. People may not have liked some shows, but they definitely loved the crackling chemistry of those stars and wished to see them together.

1. Comedy Nights with Kapil – Colors 

Kapil Sharma started his career as comedy show host after winning the third season of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. The Comedy King, as he is now known, started his comedy show in the year 2013 and the show is still aired on Colors. Audiences love his jokes and his rib-tickling humor. Kapil, who is now also doing movies, has created a huge fan following. Comedy Nights with Kapil is not same as other comedy shows; Kapil gives it an interesting twist where he interviews celebrities and makes them connect with their fans through comedy.

2. Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma – Sab TV

Yet another comedy show but that with a message and that is its uniqueness. Since July 28, 2008, the cast and crew of Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma have been endearing their fans. Jetha Lal and Daya Ben are the most famous and loved onscreen couple on TV. The serial does something extraordinary every time and that’s why it is loved by each and every age group.

3. Kumkum Bhagya – Zee TV

TV queen Ekta Kapoor uses the charm of the alphabet K and begins most of her show names with it. The magic always works. Kumkum Bhagya started in April, 2014, and was just like any other ordinary melodrama initially. The story revolves around a love-hate saga. The serial has managed to keep audiences glued to their small screens and touched several hearts. Each and every episode of this serial depicts real-life moments that take place between couples.

4. Ye Hai Mohabbatein (aka Yeh Hai Mohabbatein) – Star Plus

Yet another love story produced by Ekta Kapoor, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein was first aired on November 3, 2013, on Star Plus. There is a huge fan following and it still seems as fresh as it was. Yeh Hai Mohabbatein revolves around Raman Bhalla and Ishita Bhalla, who get connected by their common love for Raman’s daughter Ruhi. The series has shown lots of ups and down and witnessed divorce, infertility, remarriage, mature love and much more. This Balaji Telefilms’ production has truly become a treat for its fans on a daily basis.

5. Diya Aur Baati Hum – Star Plus

Diya Aur Baati Hum was aired in August 2011 and continues to run. Due to Mohit’s murder mystery, the show received highest television rating points (TRPs) and viewership. The story is all about IPS officer Sandhya Rathi and her husband Sooraj, who is shown as a supportive spouse. Sandhya has left no stone unturned to solve this murder mystery. But now there’s a major twist in Diya Aur Baati Hum, which will unfold in front of audiences soon.

6. Saath Nibhana Saathiya – Star Plus

This serial has taken major leaps and replaced several actors, but it still remains one of the most popular shows on Indian TV. The show is based on the lives of two girl cousins of the Gujarati Modi family. Yet another daily soap opera with more than a 1,000 episodes!

7. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai – Star Plus

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai was aired on January 12, 2009, and it is running successfully for six years now. It will complete seven years of continuous telecast in January 2016. The serial showcases the beautiful love story of a couple staying in a joint family.

8. Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi – Colors 

The serial was aired on June 24, 2014, and since then it has gained a lot of momentum in terms of viewership and TRPs. Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi is the story of two best friends and their never-ending love for each other.

9. Naagin – Colors 

The serial started airing on Colors on November 1, 2015, and has captured viewers’ imagination in just a month with the ever-popular story of a Naagin. It is produced by Ekta Kapoor. The show features Mouni Roy, Arjun Bijlani and Adaa Khan in lead roles.
