As per the verdict in the 1998 black buck poaching case that involves actors Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali Bendre, Jodhpur trial court has convicted Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan, while acquitting other accused (Saif, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali). Soon after it was announced that the court awarded Salman Khan five years in jail for killing the endangered blackbuck in the case, many from his peers in the film industry expressed their thoughts about the jail term. The news drew mixed reactions; while filmmaker Subhash Ghai, veteran Bollywood actress Jaya Bachchan, among others, are awaiting the actor’s bail, others feel conviction was fair and long overdue.
Amidst all this, actress and a talk show hostess, Simi Garewal, had a something to add. The actress believes Salman won’t be the guy, who shot the endangered blackbuck and said, Salman is an animal person. Garewal took to her micro-blogging site to write, “Of one thing I am dead sure..@BeingSalmanKhan would NEVER EVER harm any animal. He loves them too much. The real culprit should be exposed. 20 years is too long to bear someone else’s cross..” ALSO READ: Salman Khan Convicted In Blackbuck Poaching Case: Sona Mohapatra Asks ‘What New Inane Defence Will Madhu Kishwar Sprout Now?’
