There is no stopping Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar’s movie 2.0 at the box office, whether it be in India or overseas. The movie, which was believed to have been released in over 10,500 screens on November 29, has been a hit with moviegoers from day one. Directed by Shankar and co-written with B. Jeyamohan, the film had on opening day earned Rs 20.25 crore at the Indian box office.

On the second day, which was again a weekday, the Hindi version of 2.0 had earned around Rs 18 crore, and on Saturday, day 3, it showed a 23.46 per cent growth, earning around Rs 25 crore at the box office. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted out the numbers and said business could pick up even more on day 4, which is a Sunday.

Earlier, Ramesh Bala, who tracks the business of Bollywood as well as South Indian cinema, had tweeted out the gross amount 2.0 made in India and overseas in two days. According to him, the movie has performed well in the USA, Australia and New Zealand.

The movie is said to have toppled Vijay’s Sarkar from the number one spot by earning a whopping Rs 2.64 crore in Chennai alone. The advance booking of the film had already broken records and it is being said that the makers have already earned over Rs 120 crore from the advance booking itself.

2.0 is a sequel to 2010 hit film, Enthiran (Robot), that features Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead. Approx Rs 543 crore has been invested in making the movie. The 3D movie was shot in India and has got some never-seen-before VFX. Apart from Akshay and Rajinikanth, it also stars Amy Jackson, and the music was by AR Rahman.
