Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji are three of the most loved movie stars for every 90s kid in India. The credit goes to the epic story of love and friendship, weaved by our very own celebrated filmmaker — Karan Johar. It was Johar’s first attempt at directing when he decided to make Kuch Kuch Hota Hai –  a film that effortlessly taught us ‘Pyaar Dosti Hai,’ a film that made ‘friendship bands’ the ‘it’ thing and a film that made chants of ‘Om Jai Jagdish and Raghu Pati Raghav…’ look cool. The iconic film completed 20 years in Bollywood the other day and Karan made sure he celebrated it in a grander than grand way.

A big event was organised in which the entire cast of the film took over the stage and entertained the audience, which included both the media and other prominent names of the Hindi film industry. Attending the big party were faces like Twinkle Khanna, Abhishek Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, Ananya Pandey, Sanjay Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Tara Sutaria, Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Ayan Mukherjee among others. The center-stage was, of course, taken over by Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, and Karan Johar.

A lot of interesting things happened at the event. Many secrets from the film’s sets were shared by its cast. But, what stole the show was the unanimous love Kuch Kuch Hota Hai received from one and all at the event. Everybody had memories of the film and everybody wanted to express what the film meant to them. In fact, Salman Khan also sent out a video thanking KJo and sharing good wishes for SRK. Alia also sent out a video explaining why she loves K2H2 and her favourite, Karan Johar.

Here are a few things that would sum up why the 20 years of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai event was special and truly one of its kind:

1. The Rani-SRK-Kajol kiss:

As if it was any less wonderful to see Rani, SRK, and Kajol together after 20 years on stage, the two ladies there planted a kiss on the man’s cheek! SRK kept blushing as that lipstick’s mark on his face told the entire story. In fact, Shah Rukh called himself the luckiest man, the actor said, “I am the luckiest man in the world to be kissed by two women, on each cheek, whenever I meet them”.

2. Salman Khan’s message:
Salman Khan had a brief role in the film and the one that left a strong impression on screen. We all admired when our dear Aman Mehra gave up his girl for the love of her life. However, not many are aware that Salman wasn’t the first choice of KJo for the role. In fact, he was all wandering worried since all actors approached by him had declined the role. Salman, whom he had met at a party, readily agreed to do the role telling him that he liked his father and that’s enough a reason for him to work in his film. Salman explained this in a special video. Watch:

3. Twinkle Khanna’s funny speech:

Arguably the funniest Mrs in the industry, Twinkle is also one of Karan Johar’s closest friends since childhood. If nothing else, a true blue Bollywood lover would at least know that the part done by Rani Mukerji in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was first offered to Twinkle Khanna by Karan. In fact, he had written the role keeping his friend mind and it broke his heart into zillion pieces when the actress refused to play ‘Tina’ in the film. She took over the stage at the event to narrate the entire story and how Rani really owes her stupendous career to her. Watch the above video again from 30: 10.

4. Kareena’s introduction for Karan:

Bebo and KJo are buddies, or as Kareena Kapoor put it there on the stage — Karan is her partner in crime. After all, he gave both Kareena and us the lovely ‘Pooooh’ of Bollywood! So, when the actress took over the stage to invite Karan, she had to say all those witty things that our best friends say about us. She mentioned how she turns up to take a fashion advice from Karan and how Karan and she are a part of so many Bollywood gossip WhatsApp groups. Well, Bebo-KJo rock!

5. KJo’s kids roleplaying as Rahul and Anjali:
Among the various adorable moments from the event, one just made everybody go awww! Karan showed a picture of Yash and Ruhi dressed up in GAP sweatshirts, wearing cool shades, reminding us of our beloved Rahul and Anjali. This:

6. The fun anecdotes:

A lot happened while filming Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and a lot of it was revealed at the 20 years celebration event. Rani mentioned that she was just 17-year-old when she did the film and SRK taught her how to love on screen. Kajol revealed that even when she suffered from short-term amnesia, both KJo and SRk kept pulling her leg. In fact, Shah Rukh almost convinced her that she was a background dancer when she couldn’t remember herself. Karan shared how designer Manish Malhotra arranged for those short skirts and dresses that Rani wore in the film.

The whole event was a perfect nostalgia. We bet if you didn’t feel like plugging Kuch Kuch Hota Hai again!
