Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is thinking of trying her hands at producing and directing films. She recently talked to a daily and expressed her desire of working behind the camera. The former Miss World said that she has been told by many of her colleagues that she should give direction a chance and therefore, she is keen to direct a film soon.
Aishwarya was quoted by DNA saying, “Direction is on my mind. I do want to direct a movie someday. There’s been chatter, but I have never set time and energy to work on it. Now, I should be seriously thinking about it. My colleagues have always teased me and said, ‘Why don’t you turn a producer or director and make a film of your own?’ So, maybe, a few years down the line, I should be able to live up to it.”
The actor also mentioned that she understands the duties of a producer very well and therefore, she won’t mind becoming one some-day. However, Aishwarya maintained she hasn’t seriously given a thought to turn a producer so soon. She said, “There are a lot of talks happening about production. I have been getting feedback from many people, so, it’s encouraging. However, I haven’t seriously dwelled on this thought.”
Aishwarya added, “I have worked in the industry for years now. I’ve always been an extremely committed actor and these are roles which demand the highest amount of commitment. I believe I have the acumen to do it myself today. I have always been a team player and made sure my colleagues, director, producer and everyone else are on the same page. So, I guess it’s meant to be.”
On the work front, Aishwarya was finalised to play the lead with her husband and actor Abhishek Bachchan in Anurag Kashyap’s Gulabjamun. However, she doesn’t seem on board now.
