Actor Akshay Kumar has released a new still from his upcoming film Kesari on social media. The actor took to his Instagram-Twitter and posted a still from Kesari while wishing his fans a very happy 70th Republic Day. The still features the actor posing with his fellow soldiers forming a pyramid-like structure. The film is based on the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi and shows 21 Sikh soldiers fighting against an entire Afghan army of around 10000 soldiers. The picture he posted looks powerful and has Akshay standing in the middle raising a rifle.

He even announced the release date of the film while posting the picture. Akshay wrote, “Happy Republic Day.
It’s our #70thRepublicDay but our men have been fighting for the country since time unknown. 122 years ago, 21 Sikhs fought against 10000 invaders.#KESARI is their story, in cinemas on March 21” (sic)

Earlier, while wishing fans a very happy Republic Day in another way, he posted a picture of himself, his wife Twinkle Khanna and daughter Nitara Bhatia going for a trek. He captioned the image as, “Woke up at the crack of dawn and went hiking with the family, high on the #RepublicDay spirit.” (sic)

Akshay’s Kesari also features Parineeti Chopra in the lead. Earlier, the makers released another still from the film in which the actor was seen posing with Parineeti, who was dressed up in a Phulkari dupatta and silver jewellery as part of her look for the film.

The film is being produced by Karan Johar‘s Dharma Productions and has Anurag Singh helming it. Notably, Askhay has got four more releases this year. He has started shooting for another Dharma film, titled Good News with Kareena Kapoor Khan. Other films in Akshay’s kitty apart from Kesari and Good News are Mission Mangal, Housefull 4, and Sooryavanshi this year.
