Alaia Furniturewalla, who is set to make her Bollywood debut alongside actor Saif Ali Khan, is already quite a big sensation on social media with most of her sizzling pictures going viral on the internet. Reports had emerged in November last year that she will be playing the role of Saif’s daughter in a Nitin Kakkar movie named Jawaani Jaaneman, and recently she spoke out about how excited she is to be making her debut as Saif’s onscreen daughter.

Alaia, who is the daughter of former Bollywood actress and television talk show host Pooja Bedi and Farhan Ebrahim Furniturewalla, had herself shared the news on her social media page, exclaiming that she is pretty excited about it. A post she shared on Instagram had read, “Beyonnnnnd excited to finally be able to share the news of my first film! honoured, grateful and overjoyed to be a part of #JawaaniJaaneman with #SaifAliKhan!”

Recently she spoke about her role in the movie, and Bollywood Hungama quoted her as saying, “It’s a funny derivative. I am playing Saif Ali Khan’s daughter but not real life Sara. In fact, the character I’m playing is actually a lot like me in many ways! Which for me, is a great thing in a debut film because not only does the audience get to see me act and perform, but they also get a little glimpse into the real-life Alaia! And it goes without saying, I’m thrilled excited to be making my debut as Saif’s onscreen daughter. He is one of the finest actors that we have and I hope to learn a lot from him!”

Bollywood has seen a good number of newcomers like Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Ananya Panday emerge, with each of them bringing their own talents to the table. Alaia, whose name was legally changed recently from Aalia, spoke about the competition that she will be facing.

“I’m beyond excited!! And I’m really happy that I am starting out at a point when there is so much going on for actresses. Janhvi and Sara made their debut last year, this year it’s Ananya, me and others. I think each of our film choices have been so different from each other’s choices that it makes it all the more exciting. Our film industry has seen such a variety of films recently and I feel like all of us as newcomers are really embodying that variety too. Each one of us is bringing our own individuality and our own choices to the table. We aren’t trying to fit in,” she was quoted as saying.

The movie, which is expected to go on floors in London soon, is about a 40-year-old man who refuses to grow up and realises accidentally that he is a father to a teenager.

It also seems the soon to be star is not only good at acting but at drawing and dancing too. She recently shared some artwork that she had done on her Instagram page and captioned it, “Some doodles by me. Let me know which one is your favourite!! (All of these have been done with either markers, ball pens or gel pens)…and with a lot of patience.”

An earlier post that she had shared showed her practicing some dance steps and looking like a pro. She had posted the videos to her social media page with the caption, “Almost a year ago I met my dance angel @dimplekotecha and shortly after that, my second dance angel @utkarshc21. I was terrified, under-confident and self doubting, I never thought I’d be able to even do a thumka or straighten my arms and point my toes properly, let alone dance. After working for hours and hours every day, lots of patience, sweat, bruises, laughs and tears later, I still have a long way to go but I’ve come an incredibly long way.. and so today is when I upload a dance video (or two!) Samjhawan & Tip Tip. Thank you Dimpool & Ootkoorsh for being the incredible teachers and people you are!!”

Saif, on the other hand, was last seen in Baazaar, a movie set in the backdrop of money, power and business, largely based on the stock market. It was directed by Gauravv K. Chawla, and written by Nikkhil Advani, Aseem Arora and Parveez Sheikh. Apart from Saif, it starred Chitrangada Singh, Radhika Apte and debutant Rohan Mehra.
