Actor Irrfan Khan has begun shooting for his upcoming film Angrezi Medium. Directed by Homi Adajania, the film is set in Udaipur and features Deepak Dobriyal and Manu Rishi alongside Irrfan. Actor Radhika Madan, who debuted in Bollywood last year with Vishal Bharadwaj’s Pataakha, has also been roped in to play the character of Irrfan’s daughter in the film. The actor’s fans are already celebrating his return on the sets. Now, as reported by a leading daily, even the co-stars and other crew members also behaved emotionally seeing Irrfan back in front of the camera.

Mumbai Mirror has reported producer Dinesh Vijan explaining how surreal it was to see Irrfan giving his first shot for the film. The actor has returned to India after a year-long treatment for cancer in New York. Dinesh revealed that everyone on the sets welled up when the actor finished his first shot. The producer added that everyone on the film was waiting for this day including Homi and Deepak. He was quoted by the portal saying:

He went on to say that while everyone felt emotional, Irrfan himself was at ease and continued to entertain with his witty one-liners and jokes with Deepak. The film has Irrfan playing the role of Champak, a businessman, who inherits a 100-year-old sweet shop with his brother (Deepak’s character). Actor Manu Rishi plays the role of a rival businessman and also Champak’s distant cousin, who owns a big sweet shop. With all the rivalry in the background, the film has Irrfan dealing with his daughter’s wish of studying in the UK. Reportedly, after completing their Udaipur schedule, the team will fly to London and that’s where actor Kareena Kapoor Khan will begin shooting for her role in the film.

Angrezi Medium is the sequel to Irrfan’s 2017 hit film Hindi Medium, that featured Saba Qamar in the role of Irrfan’s wife.
