Mystery-thriller Badla, starring actors Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu, is going strong at the box office on the fifth day which falls on a weekday. Released on March 8, the movie, which is an official remake of the 2017 Spanish thriller Contratiempo (The Invisible Guest), had minted Rs 3.85 crore on Tuesday, which was slightly higher than the previous day.

According to film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the movie, which is about suave lawyer Badal Gupta, who is played by Amitabh, taking up a case that involves Taapsee’s character being accused of murdering her lover, could be making Rs 35 crore in week one.

Directed by Sujoy Ghosh and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment in association with Azure Entertainment, the movie had opened to positive reviews from critics with Amitabh and Taapsee receiving most of the praise for their performances.

This is the second time that Amitabh and Taapsee are sharing screen space after appearing together in 2016 movie Pink, and nobody could be happier about it than the actress, who said so in an earlier interview.

“I am very excited about this film. People wait to work with him and I got to work with him twice in two years. It gives me a lot of excitement and I hope the magic gets repeated. When people say, Bachchan sir and I are a hit pair, it excites me,” PTI had quoted her as saying.

With Badla out, Taapsee is now on other projects, namely, Telegu film Game Over, Hindi movies Mission Mangal and Saand Ki Aankh. Amitabh, on the other hand, will next be seen in Telegu movie Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, Hindi movies Brahmastra and Jhund.
