The film fraternity and many people from various walks of life were left in shock when news of the untimely death of Sridevi emerged. Sridevi, who is well known for her many movies, had left behind her husband Boney Kapoor and two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi. And now as the anniversary of her death nears, Boney has decided to mark it by auctioning a saree that had belonged to her for a charitable cause.

Sridevi had passed away on February 24, 2018 in Dubai, UAE where she had gone with family members to celebrate the marriage of her nephew Mohit Marwah. Now Boney is set to auction off her kota saree online as a mark of remembrance.

The auction is taking place on Parisera and the website has created a page which is dedicated to Sridevi. The tag line reads, “Being Generous, With Sridevi” and below that a tribute to her.

As per the description, the Kapoor family has decided to donate the money from the auction of Sridevi’s beloved Kota saris to Concern India Foundation. The foundation is a charitable trust that strives to bring a change to society, helping women, children, the differently abled, the underprivileged and the elderly.

Sharing a picture of the saree, the website also mentions that since she was born in a South-Indian household, Sridevi wore sarees as a badge of her identity and had always infused a sense of unique charisma into its pleats. The saree chosen for auction by the family is, as described on the website, light, bright and emanates the perfect essence of Sridevi.

The starting bid for the saree was pegged at Rs 40,000, and till writing of the story, the current bid was Rs 1,30,000.
