After the huge success of Simmba, actor Ranveer Singh has started prepping for his upcoming film, 83. The movie is based on India’s victory at the 1983 Cricket World Cup in which the actor will be seen playing the role of legendary cricketer Kapil Dev. Speculations have been rife for quite some time that Ranveer’s wife and actress Deepika Padukone was approached for playing Kapil’s wife in the movie. According to the latest report, the dimpled beauty said no to the project since she doesn’t have much to do in it.

A source recently told Deccan Chronicle, “83 is a boys’ film. The focus is on Kapil Dev and his team bringing home the World Cup. Ranveer plays Kapil Dev. While Deepika playing his wife Romi sounds tempting, it’s just not true. Kapil Dev’s wife’s role will be very limited in this film and Deepika is a huge brand. She wouldn’t do any film just because her husband is in it.”
Meanwhile, the actor was spotted at a cricket ground in Mumbai with filmmaker Kabir Khan to learn some sports techniques.

Ranveer and Deepika are among much-loved reel and real life jodis of Bollywood. They have worked together in films like Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani and Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela. Both the stars tied the knot in November.

On a related note, Simmba performed extremely well at the box office. The movie entered the coveted Rs 200 crore club. He is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, Gully Boy. The movie also features Alia Bhatt and is all set to hit the screens on February 14. Deepika, on the other hand, will next be seen in Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak. The movie is based on the acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. It will begin rolling in March.
