Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter starrer Dhadak‘s trailer finally released today. The event was quite a star studded one with members of the Kapoor family all backing Janhvi as she makes her debut in the movies. They made sure Janhvi didn’t miss her mother so much. At the launch, Karan Johar introduced the lead pair of the Hindi remake of the award winning Marathi film, Sairat.

Helmed by Shashank Khaitan, who has given us the hits of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania,  and bankrolled by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, the film is based on the love story of an innocent couple who fall in love, oblivious to their vast class and economic divide. What follows then is a struggle to save their love from the societal pressure that comes with the class hierarchy. After Sairat made Box Office history by entering into the Rs 100 crore club, KJo bought the rights of the film. The original film that released on April 29, 2016 starred newcomers Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar in the lead, who also made their debut with the film. However, when the Dharma Production’s honcho decided to give the popular Marathi film a Bollywood spin, Twitter was appalled.

On the other hand, there were some who also loved the colourful images, soulful cinematography and the lead on screen couple’s sizzling chemistry. Khatter’s performance was appreciated by many, while Janhvi reminded many of her mother.

Ishaan and Janhvi’s adorable and playful chemistry is the highlight of the movie. Both of them look gorgeous on screen.Moreover, the makers have incorporated the famous Marathi song, Jhingaat’s Hindi version in the trailer. We get a glimpse of the on-screen couple dancing to the tunes of the famous foot-tapping number. From love to angst, Ishaan and Janhvi have us hooked just the way a fish takes to water.
