The ongoing #MeToo movement has brought up many prominent names from the Hindi film industry who are now accused of sexual harassment. Sajid Khan’s name came as a shock when an actress, who worked with the filmmaker as an assistant director, alleged that Sajid tried to inappropriately touch and humiliated her at his place. In her article, she alleged how Sajid kept taking advantage of her and even told her the real meaning of ‘casting couch’.
Sajid Khan’s sister Farah Khan had earlier talked about the allegations against her brother on Twitter. She has once again opened up about the same at a book launch in Mumbai. “I have fear psychosis for anybody, whether it’s a woman or whether it is for a man who is talking to a girl… getting scared if should I be talking to a girl,” said Farah. “The only thing I fear is the quick judgements and the quick punishments that are met out. Trial by Twitter which is happening in hours,” she added.
Earlier, she had responded to the allegations against Sajid and tweeted, “This is a heartbreaking time for my family. We have to work through some very difficult issues. If my brother has behaved in this manner he has a lot to atone for. I don’t in any way endorse this behaviour and Stand in solidarity with any woman who has been hurt”.
Earlier, Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association had given him seven days to come up with an explanation for his alleged offensive behaviour.
Sajid is not the first to have been issued a notice for sexual misconduct, as earlier actor Alok Nath and director Vikas Bahl too were slammed by CINTAA and IFTDA after allegations of sexual harassment cropped up against them.
Actor Bipasha Basu also came out and spoke against Sajid Khan. She said that she has vowed to never work with the filmmaker after Humshakals because of his ‘lewd jokes and comments on the sets’ for women. Dia Mirza also expressed her horror at the various stories that have come out about Sajid Khan.
Meanwhile, Sajid Khan has stepped down as the director of Housefull 4 which features Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh among others.
With the #MeToo movement going on full swing, many stories have been coming out related to Bollywood stars and their sexual harassment, and there is no end in sight to the accusations.
