The audience will have to wait a little longer for the ‘good news’. The release date of Akshay Kumar–Kareena Kapoor Khan’s next film has been postponed and the film will now be releasing on September 6. Good News, directed by Raj Mehta, was earlier slated to release on July 19 this year. However, there has been a shift in the release date and producer Karan Johar announced the same on social media today, on January 21.
The filmmaker took to Twitter and wrote, “#GOODNEWS releases on the 6th of September, 2019!!! AKSHAY KAREENA DILJIT KIARA!!! Directed by RAJ MEHTA!! #capeofgoodfilms @DharmaMovies @akshaykumar #kareena @diljitdosanjh @Advani_Kiara @apoorvamehta18 @ShashankKhaitan.” (sic)
Apart from Akshay and Kareena, Good News also features Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh in important roles. The film is the story of a couple who’s trying to have a baby. Good News is one of the most anticipated films of the year considering it’s bringing Akshay and Kareena back together on screen after a hiatus of four years. Their last film together was Gabbar is Back in which Kareena played the character of his wife. Hers was a special appearance.
Further, the shooting of the film, which was slated to begin last year got postponed and now Akshay-Kareena will reportedly be joining the cast from January 27. Revealing the reason behind the shoot delay, a source close to the actor told Times of India, “Akshay has given his dates from the last week of January. The entire crew, including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh will also be shooting in Mumbai for the second schedule of the film. He will join them on the sets around January 27. Akki and Bebo weren’t required for that schedule. The four of them will shoot their combination scenes now, whereas there will also be a third schedule featuring only the two main leads.”
