The nation can’t stop swooning over new crush in the block, Siddhant Chaturvedi and the breakout star of Zoya Akhtar directorial Gully Boy recently spilled beans on his camaraderie with co-stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. As the movie is enjoying an incredible run not just on domestic turf but also overseas, fans can’t seem to have enough of the hidden gem, MC Sher aka Siddhant, that the musical drama offered.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Siddhant was asked about the best compliment he has received so far on which he gushed, “From Ranveer Singh himself I have heard. So, we are both Govinda lovers, I am a huge Govinda fan. The first song Zoya found me dancing on was Tujhe Mirchi Lagi toh Main Kya Karun. So, off-screen we used to break into some random filmy dialogues. Ranveer was surprised and he told me, ‘You are one of the most filmy guys I have come across’. That coming from Ranveer is huge because he is filmy and how!”
Collecting rave reviews from all quarters, the movie made fans sure of one that that if it was anything that Murad (Ranveer’s character in the film) did not have to struggle for, it was finding a friend like MC Sher but Siddhant reveals it to be the other way round in real life. “Off-screen, it was a role reversal. Ranveer Singh was my MC Sher, off screen. I am a new guy so I was like, ‘Baba, is this fine.’ He was so warm and guiding me throughout. Ranveer is an amazing actor which everybody knows but he is such an amazing human being too, bohut khoosurat insaan hai. I am in love with him and he used to keep mentoring me, guiding me. He made me so comfortable.”
Talking about his co-star Alia, Siddhant said that no one could have essayed Safeena’s role, of a madly possessive lover and an aspiring surgeon, better. Calling it his favourite character from the movie, Siddhant shared, “When I read the script, the very first time I met Zoya I was like, ‘Safeena is amazing yaar.’ The character, I mean, and I could totally see Alia Bhatt do it. When I saw her play it, I was blown away. She is fantastic. She is my favourite character in the film. The grace with which Alia showed anger, kamaal hai.”
Confessing to have been in relationships with ‘Safeenas’ in the past, Siddhant recalled, “Yes, I have had such relationships. If you have been in a relationship with a person since childhood and love him so much, ho jata hai kabhi kabhi.”
Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy continues to perform phenomenally at the Box Office. The Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer has earned a total of Rs 89.15 crore after six days of its release.
