Actors Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal are set to reunite and bring laughter to the audience once again with a third installment of the hilarious Hera Pheri series. The three will be reprising their respective roles of Raju, Shyam and Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in the movie, which is now back on track after facing many delays. Hera Pheri 3 will as per reports go on floors by the end of this year.

According to Mumbai Mirror, a source had revealed that the film is in the scripting stage with Indra Kumar as its director, and that the initial plan had been for it to go on floors towards the end of 2018.

“At present, the film is in the scripting stage. Indra Kumar has been working with his team of writers on the story since May last year and has already locked the first half, while the second half requires some more work. He will jump into it after the release of his upcoming directorial, Total Dhamaal,” the source, who is close to the development, was quoted as saying.

“The delays happened due to issues in the script. Hera Pheri is an iconic franchise and the team is in no hurry to take it on the floors. Though everyone is excited, no one wants to compromise on the script for a substandard product to capitalise on the franchise’s power,” the source added.

The movie has been through a lot of hurdles where both the directors and actors are concerned, with Akshay and Paresh at first electing not to reprise their roles. They were replaced by actors John Abraham, Nana Patekar and Abhishek Bachchan. However, the former and the latter left the movie during filming. The future of the movie became uncertain after director Neeraj Vora passed away while he was helming it.

In 2018 it was confirmed that Indra would be directing it and that Akshay, Suniel and Paresh will be starring in it.
