Fresh from the success of Gully Boy, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar has already started working on her next projects. While talking to the media at an awards show recently, she revealed that her team has already begun the work on the second season of her web series Made in Heaven. The director of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara revealed that she is also working on another film with her friend and director Reema Kagti. The team is also planning another web show, the details of which will be out soon.
When asked about planning a sequel to Gully Boy, Zoya said that the audience shall wait to see if that happens. The director was quoted saying, “Let’s see when it comes out.”
Zoya also expressed her happiness on the kind of positive response Gully Boy received at the Box Office. The film emerged as a hit at the Box Office and also impressed the critics with its realistic narrative. Zoya thanked everyone and said that it always feels good when hardwork pays off. The filmmaker was quoted saying, “It feels good when it does well at the box office and when you have a certain amount of critical appreciation.”
When asked about her formula of making films, Zoya revealed that honesty towards craft is the only way to do good work. She said that one has to believe in himself and his work to ensure things fall in right place. She said, “I feel you have to do something that you believe in and you have to do it as honestly and truthfully as you can and then, whatever happens, happens for the best. You can’t look at the end result. You have to just enjoy the process.”
Earlier, in an interview, Zoya explained how she wants to just keep telling stories that no one else is sharing. She said that together with Reema, she is keen to deliver the kind of stories on-screen that are a perfect mix of entertainment and content.
